PERFORMING ON THE NIGHT:
FAKER
On the back of the release of their second album 'Be The Twilight', catch Faker in a performance that if you are not careful, might just cause a heart attack!
Q + A with Paul Berryman of Faker:
Any New Year resolutions for next year?
I gave up making new years resolutions... I cant think of one that stuck. I'm hopeless with that...zero will power.
Got any dibs on people to pash on New Years Eve?
I love a NYE pash fest... No dibs on anyone in particular.. I'm happy to be passed around like a 2 dollar whore.
Tell us a little bit about your coolest past NYE experience?
I always seem to be playing gigs on NYE.. and can never remember with any clarity what happened the night before.. lets just say most of my new years are a cool blur to me.

DAPPLED CITIES
New York City. 6 months. Gigs in 32 States. 3 laps around the entire United States. 2 forays into Canada. 4 sold-out shows in NYC. 435 hotdogs. 2 dinners at the Boiling Pot in Austin. 1 sold-out Hallow'een show (in costume). 2 photoshoots on rooftops with a bicycle. 7.8 Pitchfork review. 1 lower east side bedroom. 5 gentlemen. 8 brand new shiny songs. That is the life of Dappled Cities circa late 2007. And now they are bringing it all back home playing their firsthometown shows in over half a year!

YOUNG & RESTLESS
There is so much buzz around this band right now, and it's not hard to see why. From the pogo-ing, damaged rhythm section to singer Karina Utomo's wind-tunnel howl, comparisons to hardcore punk acts and crossover talent like Yeah Yeah Yeahs make total sense. You should definitely get along and see them in their raw, brutally unrefined state.
Q + A with Ross Paxman of Young & Restless:
Any New Year resolutions for next year?
We'd like to resolve to try and get more sleep, but it's looking doubtful the way things are going!
Got any dibs on people to pash on New Years Eve?
We're going to stay away from the pashing actually, by the time midnight comes we probably won't be able to see straight enough to know who or what we're snogging.
Tell us a little bit about your nastiest past NYE experience?
When I was a kid we used to go down the coast for Christmas/NYE holidays, and one year about 30 or 40 nude cyclists rode straight down the main street of town. I thought that was pretty nasty at the time.
What are you hoping to see at the Purple Sneakers NYE House Party?
Everyone looking their absolute best at the start of the night and their most trashy by the end... that's what NYE is all about, isn't it?

SPARKADIA
Just returning from playing over in the UK and fresh from signing a new record deal, Sparkadia play for the first time in Sydney since returning from their travels.
Q + A with AB of Sparkadia:
Any New Year resolutions for next year?
Not at all. 2008 will be a great year regardless of resolutions and plans.
Got any dibs on people to pash on New Years Eve?
Someone that you are attracted to is a good start. Preferably they would want to return the favour. Best to avoid people that you don't know or aren't attracted to.
Tell us a little bit about your nastiest past NYE experience?
They have all been pleasant. Even when i woke up on the beach, that was weird to say the least.
What's your cure to a New Years hangover?
New Years Day celebrations. Let the hangover, hang.

WONS PHREELY
2007 has been pretty good for Wons Phreely. He's supported M. Ward, Ben Kweller, Aqualung, Bob Evans and is about to tour with Ben Lee. He's played a bunch of festivals including The Great Escape, Playground Weekender, the Pauhaus Festival in Brisbane, and Splendour in the Grass as part of Mellow Gold with Old Man River and Whitley.
To add to his live success Wons Phreely's debut The Rules of Nature EP has been receiving some zesty reviews in street press across Australia including three singles of the week. The reviews compare Wons with Ben Kweller, Bright Eyes, Ben Lee and one even predicts Wons being as big as Gotye very soon. In fact, Inpress called it "the best album released this year that's not quite an album", that's cos it's an EP.

THE HOLIDAYS
The Holidays have been together one year... in that time they have toured with international acts like The View, Ben Kweller and Jamie T, and played with lots of good australian bands. Their early demos have enjoyed local and international radioplay and their debut EP will be released soon...

CLOUD CONTROL
Inspired by the great melody makers of our time, Cloud Control embrace the alt-folk tradition, with Neil Young-inspired vocals and inventive pop melodies. The band salutes the music of yesteryear with boy/girl harmonies reminiscent of The Lucksmiths and Fleetwood Mac.
Q + A with Cloud Control:
What New Years resolution do you plan on making but not keeping??
News Years resolutions are for people who keep diaries and watch Oprah.
You're from the Blue Mountains right? What will you be listening to in the band van on the way down to the gig??
Correct. Prince- 1999
Which one of you is likely to be the first to pass out on New Years??
Jeremy, forever dranken.
What has 2008 got in store for Cloud Control??
We're gonna write an album, and its gonna be really good. Tours, shows, the whole shabam.

S.Y.L.K.
S.Y.L.K exploded from a pack of sequins in 2007. These three bedazzled honeyz tear up the dance floor with their sylky smooth rhymes and stylin' moves. They've dazzled the stage in Canberra with Macromantics, as well as dishing out a plethora of mind blowing performances at Sydney's Hoops, Sound Summit, and Parklife. Expect fun party raps that'll give you a work out like a game of twister. So get ready 'cos Neenbomb, Ezzy E and Special K will be bringing the party straight to your feetz.

THE TONGUE
The Tongue shot to acclaim in 2006 with his Bad Education EP, signing with Elefant Traks because of his natural talent on stage and on record, even though they weren't planning on any new signings at the time. He is 'that' kind of artist. In October 2007 his debut album 'Shock & Awe' was released and an almost entirely soldout national tour followed, along with comments such as "One of the freshest and most talented voices in Australian hip hop" (Hobart Mercury). Expect charisma, good vibes and an energetic live show.
Q + A with The Tongue:
Any New Year resolutions for next year?
Punch Tony Abbott and/or Malcom Turnbull in the face. Whoever takes over from Howard - that's who I'm gonna punch.
Got any dibs on people to pash on New Years Eve?
Karina from Young and Restless...she certainly looks like she could hold her own in a pash-off. Plus she seems really nice, I'm sure she'd get along with my girlfriend like a house on fire....
Tell us a little bit about your nastiest past NYE experience?
I don't remember...but I'm sure it was pretty nasty....
What's your cure to a New Years hangover?
Do the Amy Winehouse- stay high!

WHERE'S JEROME (THE BRAG'S WINNER)
Where's Jerome? Jerome is writing songs and cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Jerome likes to write songs and cook wonderful dishes. He is creative this way. Usually when Jerome comes home from work he cooks dinner, then he eats then writes songs. Jerome writes songs in the kitchen while he is cooking, the aroma of food helps his senses create, cooking can be creative for Jerome thus food for the mind once the food is consumed.
PhDJ
When Purple Sneakers own Martin Novosel (aka PhDJ) deejays he mixes a spectrum of non-typical club music together to create the most unwieldy and exciting parties. His shambolic DJ style leads a new school of Australian DJs who insist on mixing album tracks and singles rather than traditional, typical club mixes.

COCO & SHAMBLES
Hailing from the filthy streets of Darlinghurst Coco & Shambles burst onto the scene only a year ago but are already making an impression. Coco & Shambles play a range of genres from rock, pop, indie dance, electro, hip hop, and dub/reggae. Basically party music for everyone, anytime! Their philosophy is to play music that challenges people but does not alienate, most importantly to get ya ass shakin' and ya feet movin'!
BEST FRIENDS
The thing about BEST FRIENDS is that you never know what you will get from them, they can go from Pennywise to Phoenix without missing a beat or mash Daft Punk with Kylie Minogue before breaking it down into a hip hop house party. BEST FRIENDS greatest strength is their musical knowledge and song selection, what makes it even greater though is that they don't have any pretensions - If the dance floor wants to hear Colour Me Bad mixed into the Ghostbusters theme song, then that's what the dance floor is going to get.
Q + A with Best Friends
What is the best thing about Best Friends??
They let you borrow their xbox games and they know how you like your back rubs.
What will be the money-shot track in your new years set??
This is obviously a closely guarded secret as we know a lot of people will be reading this and we don't want them to prematurely loose their shit. FYI if anyone from MIPI is reading this, our 'money-shot' track, just like the rest of our songs were obtained legally and are not in breach of any copyright or intellectual property laws ok so do not bother doing an audit of our CD collection.
Any New Years resolutions for next year??
We are collectively vowing to lose 3.5 kilograms, quit smoking, reduce our cholesterol, avoid telemarketing scams and watch less television.
Got any dibs on people to pash on New Years Eve??
Elle Macpherson and/or Pamela Anderson and/or Claudia Schiffer
VANS V CONS
Vans V Cons is a collaboration between two chefs, who met one sunny day in late 2009, whilst attending their own pre natal classes. Their first interaction together was a very heated discussion regarding whether or not Ross and Rachel were actually on a break and once an outcome was reached (which, by the way cannot be discussed due to legal reasons) our intrepid culinary engineers decided to lay down the bats and crowbars and give peace a chance. What is the best way to express peace I hear you ask? Be kind to each other, commit random acts of ignorance and remember Van Halen were better off before Sammy Hager . What does all this have to do with the musical amoeba known as Vans V Cons......absolutely nothing.

AND THE PURPLE SNEAKERS DJS:
VIVIENNE KINGSWOOD
She will dance, she will clap, she will sing! albeit poorly, but the music she plays will be so loud, thumping, and completely intoxicating, all you'll hear is the sound of the ultimate party. And that alone will get you drunk as yo mumma!
Q + A with Vivienne Kingswood
Any New Year resolutions for next year?
I tent to make the same lame-ass, cliche resolutions every year. Be healthy, make my bed everyday, save money, stop bleaching my hair etc etc... Regardless of my intentions, I never stick to any of them any longer than maybe a month max. So this year my resolution is to not make stupid promises to myself I know I can't keep, buy more cd's and sneakers and basically just have 'The Year Of Amy'. Selfish much? yes, do I care? Not at all!!!
Got any dibs on people to pash on New Years Eve?
The Tounge? HA HA! just kidding, but with a name like that I would have high expectations! I don't have dibs on anyone but if there is anyone who has dibs on me they are more than welcome to grab me at the end of the countdown!
Tell us a little bit about your nastiest past NYE experience?
That's WAY too easy. I was in Byron Bay for New Years back when I was at Uni. I was up there with a whole heap of my friends and it was shaping up to be the best NYE ever... we were in a street party and Basement Jaxx was playing, I was a little drunk but not overly however when it came to the countdown all I remember is '4... 3... 2.....' I woke up 6 hours later on a make-shift bed made from wet beach towels on a footpath. Apparently I was slipped Rohypnol at some stage of the night and my friends spent all NYE carrying me around like a sack of potatoes because we had no-where to stay. Good mates, bad NYE!
What will be the money-shot track in your new years set?
Hmmm, well there is a few contenders in the running, something old? something new? borrowed? errr...blue? I do believe that will have to remain a secret. Don't want to spoil it now do I! The punters will just have to buy their tickets if they want a slice of the best NYE pie going in Sydney!
DJ FLE
Ben Fletcher sings in Sydney band The Devoted Few, but has a secret second life. When he's not rocking and/or rolling in TDF he is DJ Fle of the Purple Sneakers crew. He will rock and /or roll your frilly socks off on the NYE with nothing but the hits!
NICK FINDLAY
Q + A with Nick Findlay

Got any dibs on people to pash on New Years Eve?
My girlfriend - don't you be sizing her up either!
What's your cure for a New Year's hangover?
Lots of potato, salt and oil in some form, and maybe a slurpee.
What will be the money-shot track in your new years set?
Can't tell you that! It's not soon enough to decide...
K-VON
K-von has delivered outstanding support performances to most of Australia's leading producers and DJs in his short years of Djing to date. More recently he ventured off shore to rock out and headline for NOKIA at the crazy MOBJAM parties in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. His unique blend of talent and an endless energy behind, in front (or any other angle this colourful DJ finds himself from the decks)....... gives him an entertainment value above and beyond the majority of today's DJs.
Q + A with K-Von:
Any New Year resolutions for next year?

Got any dibs on people to pash on New Years Eve?
