Also Launching At Sneakers This Week!

The companion disk to ‘The Conquerer' (due to be released in 2010) 'The Bachelor' leads us into the CD partnership titled ‘The Battle'.

It lends us some insight into the epical glam and theatrical mind of Patrick Wolf while allowing us to feel the darkness that his image so often touches upon. Calling upon folk violinist Eliza Carthy and actor Tilda Swindon for touches of diversity it swings from obvious Celtic folk substance to Wolf's unavoidable roots of electro pop. Beautifully indulgent, it promises to be as breathtaking as the film clips already appear to be.

Launching This Week At Sneakers

This week we are stoked to be launching to awesome albums. The first album is YVES KLEIN BLUE - 'Ragged & Ecstatic' thanks to our mates at Universal. Great is a word that understates "Ragged & Ecstatic", an album that subtly and cleverly captures the exuberance and experience of life, but in a way that's as universal as it is personal.

Recording with Kevin Augunas (Cold War Kids), Yves Klein Blue learnt fast to objectively view their work. With a less-is-more approach to varied arrangements and an energised live-sounding set-up ensured Tomlinson's impassioned and witty lyricism came to the fore. The end of the long journey was at Brisbane's Airlock Studios and then Sydney's Big Jesus Burger Studios with Scott Horscroft (The Presets, The Panics, Sleepy Jackson), where final touches to the mix were made.

This passion and uncompromising vision also makes "Ragged & Ecstatic" a lot of fun. With an off-the-cuff, energetic and live feel to the set, it veers from the buoyant, bright and swaggering single ‘Getting Wise' and irresistible ‘Make Up Your Mind', to the cheeky and joyous ska of ‘Summer Sheets' and Dylan-esque generational anthem ‘About The Future'. Wonderfully original melodies ingrain, sentiments resonate and the feeling and splashes of colour carried by Tomlinson's turns of phrase are illuminating.

Purple Sneakers In Canberra This Friday!!!

We really look forward to our Sneakers trips to Canberra each month. It's just like partying in Sydney except we don't get robbed or bashed for no reason.

However there has been one thing that has been bothering me, it is sooooooo f*$king cold! So we thought this month we would heat things up a little with some our favourite local party DJs. We will be bringing down a few of the Purple Sneakers DJs too if they can sober up in time!

Local superstar TALIHINA SHAN will be taking control of the decks and rocking the dancefloor along with WILL EAT BRAINS. Plus you can expect the Purple Sneakers DJs, M.I.T and WALKIE TALKIE, to be bringing down a truck load of Sydney tastiness.

We're also really, REALLY excited to be launching the new album from Placebo - ‘Battle For The Sun' thanks to our friends at Shock.

This Week At Sneakers

It's been a big year so far at Purple Sneakers and this week I was sort of looking forward to a bit of a break.

Especially after last week's Wolf & Cub after party, it's too hard to say no when a beautiful girl on roller skates offers me a beer. Yeah that's right, we totally had a roller skating bartender, it was f*$king SWEET! But alas as purveyors of fine parties we just don't know the meaning of the work CHILL!

So this week we have asked our good friends SVU (Lost Valentinos) back in to tear up the dance floor like only they know how. They will be supported by the original party starters the PURPLE SNEAKERS DJS. We also have our awesome friend with the sexiest hair in Sydney, MONKEY GENIUS.

This week we are hosting the official after-party for Regular John who will be gracing us with their presence after what I am sure will be a huuuuuuuuuuge show at the Oxford Arts Factory. Check the website for details on that.

This week we are stoked to be launching two hot new albums, Patrick Wolf - ‘The Bachelor' thanks to Speak ‘n' Spell and Yves Klein Blue - ‘Ragged & Ecstatic' thanks to Universal Music. Check the website - www.boundarysounds.com for more details and to be in the running to win copy of the albums.

Regular John Playing Oxford Arts Factory This Friday!

The Sydney foursome's debut album, The Peaceful Atom Is A Bomb - which Rolling Stone magazine has already dubbed "the perfect distillation of everything good that's happened since rock found a heavy, fuzzy imagination in the late Sixties" - is the culmination of two intense years of hard living, hard partying and - more than anything - f*cking hard work.
