In the 4 year history of Purple Sneakers last week is the first week we haven't had a photographer on the night. So instead we wanted to celebrate the humble Yak.
Here's some rad facts about Yaks: they never slip or fall down, wild yaks and tame yaks don't like each other and if they run into each other they battle it out, they can survive at 40 degrees below zero and tame yaks come when they're called.

It was massive turn out for Purple Sneakers save FBI fundraiser on Friday. Early on we saw PAPA vs PRETTY and DEEP SEA ARCADE play in the beer garden. Later on in the night WOLF & CUB played a killer DJ set supported by FBI DJS, KILL THE LANDLORD and PURPLE SNEAKERS DJS PhDJ, BEN LUCID and M.I.T. Our good friends from the Philly J's and Bluejuice also stopped by to party. And if you stuck around right to the end you might have caught a surprise DJ set from Spit Syndicate's DJ JOYRIDE. Woo!

And then the party rolled downstairs where the Purple Sneakers dancefloor was given a run for it's money from DJs SHIPWRECK, JOHNNY SEGMENT, PHDJ, WALKIE TALKIE and BEN LUCID.

It was Sneakers 4th Birthday on Friday and just as we expected it was freakin' huge!!! PHILADELPHIA GRAND JURY played a smashing live set on the roof of the Abercrombie and then leapt off into the crowd! JANE GAZZO manned the decks of indie glory along with ALL of the Purple Sneakers DJs batteling each other. M.I.T versed WALKIE TALKIE, PHDJ versed NICK FINDLAY and THE FLAMING HIPS went up against BEN LUCID in creating dancefloor destroyers! We also had the dudes from Ratatat and Art vs Science come down after their shows plus Bluejuice and Sparkadia boys came to bust out on the dancefloor.

It was our last Friday night as 3 year olds so everyone celebrated by getting loose and behaving like toddlers. Crayons on walls, drinks spilt all over the floor and dancing like your mum was filming you for Australia's Funniest Home Video was all part and parcel with the banging tunes coming from KID 'N' BIRD, JOYRIDE and Purple Sneakers DJs PhDJ, THE FLAMING HIPS and BEN LUCID. Our mates from bLuejuice, Sparkadia and Cassette Kids also dropped in to hang out and act childish!

Christmas, a long day of family commitments and the ingestion of vast quantities of various meats. Boxing day, f*#k the family I am going to Purple Sneakers!! This week saw all the Sneakers kids getting into the Spring vibe and heating up the dance floor! The indie tunes were pumped out by a lineup that included DUKES OF HAGGARD (SLEATER BROCKMAN vs MAGIC HAPPENS), PhDJ, VIVIENNE KINGSWOOD, DJ FLE AND COCO & SHAMBLES!!
Special party guests Jake from BLUEJUICE, AB from SPARKADIA, PHILADELPHIA GRAND JURY, Dan from ART VS SCIENCE and Vijay From JJJ all rocked up on the night to sink longnecks with us!!

Faaark! What a night! I reckon the heat went to everyone's heads cos it was one crazy night that I won't soon forget. We launched the first in a series of CLUB NME nights. Special thanks to guest DJ SIMON SUBSONIC, all the way from CLUB NME London. He was supported by purple Sneakers DJs NICK FINDLAY and WALKIE TALKIE. Fuck you winter! Spring has finally sprung and everybody was ready to party. Sneakers was packed to the rafters from start to finish. A very big THANK YOU to guest DJ WENDY JAMES for an awesome old school punk set also to 16 TACOS for bringing it home in the end. Special mention to JANE GAZZO for another fucking awesome set, she had the whole place jumping!! They were supported by Purple Sneakers DJs NICK FINDLAY and PhDJ. I think Coco & shambles played as well but who really cares about D grade celebrities!
